About The Tour

Tour Description

This private sightseeing transfer from Riga to Tallinn is designed for travelers who want more than just a simple ride between two capitals. Instead of spending the day on a direct bus, highway transfer, or airport connection, you will travel the scenic Baltic coastal route and turn your journey into a meaningful part of your trip.

Along the way, you will discover a quieter and less touristy side of Latvia and Estonia — sea views, forest trails, hidden coastal stretches, small local roads, and places that many travelers would never see on their own. One of the memorable stops is the White Dune of Saulkrasti, a beautiful seaside viewpoint surrounded by pine forest and fresh sea air. You will also enjoy a walk on the Sunset Trail, where the Baltic coast, sandy paths, and peaceful nature come together in one of the most pleasant walks on this route.

As the journey continues north, the experience becomes more than just transportation. You will see the coastal character of the region, pass through the Latvia–Estonia border area, and continue toward Pärnu — Estonia’s beloved summer capital. Here, you can enjoy the atmosphere of a charming seaside town known for its relaxed feel, beach area, wooden architecture, and pleasant old town.

"Best tour guide we have ever had!"

Reviewed May 16, 2025
Tina from Germany

My partner and I booked Rihard for both the forest bathing experience as well as the road trip from Riga to Tallinn. We travel a lot, and Rihard is the best tour guide we have ever had. He loves Latvia, and it really shows in how he speaks about his home country. He is full of interesting stories and facts that helped us feel more connected to what we were seeing. He is a very friendly guy, a great conversationalist, and easy to be around.

As for the tours:
Forest Bathing: What a magical experience to immerse ourselves in the Latvian forest. Rihard is very familiar with the forests and has a deep admiration for them. He is the perfect person to share a walk through the trees with. For the last two hours of the tour, he set us up with hammocks in the dreamiest location. We got to relax there on our own, and we truly felt like we were in heaven.

Road Trip: Usually, when we have travel days, we are so focused on getting from point A to point B that we don't enjoy the actual travel. This tour gives you a chance to take in some of the lesser-known areas of Latvia and Estonia, and actually enjoy the journey. The walk along the Gulf of Riga was a highlight for us. The forest grows parallel to the coast. We were the only ones hiking there for the majority of the walk, and wow, did it feel special. This might seem like a long day, but it flew by for us.

Overall: Rihard is the best. If you are going to Latvia, book him!

"Excellent Way to Experience the Baltics countryside"

Kimberly from USA

We booked Discover Latvia Tours for both our transfer from Tallinn to Riga, via Parnu, Along the Seaside, and from Riga to Vilnius, via Rundale Palace and Hill of Crosses. Both times we had Rihards as our driver. He was incredibly professional, courteous, kind, and regaled us with many interesting stories about the Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian people, their relationships with each other, with the land, their histories, food, and culture. The stops we had along the way were interesting and he always offered to tailor stops to our needs. We probably would not have seen these places if not for this tour and certainly would not have learned so much about the Baltics! I would definitely recommend Discover Latvia Tours for anyone travelling to the Baltic States.

"A bespoke tour for four, covering Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia"

Reviewed December, 2022
Marie from Perth, Australia

Discover Latvia Tours took our family of four (two adults, two teenagers) on a private, bespoke tour of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia over two days. The itinerary was tailored to suit our needs and interests, with our guide, Rihards, instrumental in the planning stages. He suggested interesting sights off the beaten track, and closer to the travel date communicated regularly with us regarding the finer details.

When spending two full days in a car ‘one-on-one’ with a guide, you want someone like Rihards driving you around. Intelligent, interesting and very pleasant to be around, it was easy to forget we were on a ‘tour’ with Rihards. It felt as though we were being driven around by a friend.

Over the two days, our tailored tour included:
Day one - hotel pick up in Riga, traveling to Salispils Concentration Camp (18km southeast of Riga). The memorial building (an impressive concrete structure) was built by the Soviets in the late 1960s. The informative displays depicting use of the camp during WWII have recently been installed and are very well done.
It was a moving experience, and was particularly beautiful set against the snowy background. Well worth a visit if time allows.

Second stop on day one was the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania. Rihards dropped us off at the main entrance, leaving us to explore the site at our own pace, then waited for us beside a church on the other side.
This place would be awe inspiring at any time of year, but the deep snow made it a truly magical and picturesque experience. (Being Aussies, snow is a huge novelty for us).

On the way back to our hotel we stopped for coffee and cake at a pretty riverside cafe. (Again, very pretty blanketed in white.)

Day two - hotel pick up in Riga to visit a secret Soviet bunker (Padomju Slepenais Bunkurs). It was a fascinating experience. Kept top secret until 2003, it’s as though the Soviets just upped and left the bunker overnight, leaving everything behind - a real time warp! Our bunker guide was a Mexican expat, living in Lithuania, and an expert on the Soviet era - quite a combo! He was passionate about the bunker’s history and shared his knowledge in an energetic and enjoyable way.

Rihards then drove us to the Sigilda bobsled track. This is where Rihards local knowledge and tour organisation really came in handy - the bobsleigh facility is not always open and Rihards kept track of this for us in the days leading up to our visit.
As far as the actual bobsled experience goes, all I can say is Wow Wow Wow!!!! It was a once in a lifetime experience - especially for a sandgroper from Perth, Western Australia!

From there, Rihards drove us to Tallin, Estonia, stopping at another gorgeous cafe along the way before delivering us safely to our next hotel.

Thank you so much Rihards for all your help in organising this very special experience for us, and for your friendly company along the way. We had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed every step and kilometer of the journey!

Your expert driving through all that snow for two days while chatting to us about every topic imaginable was very impressive!

We approached Discover Latvia Tours to provide us with full day sightseeing transfers from Vilnius to Riga and from Riga to Tallinn. We were really delighted with the service we received. Rihards is so professional and knowledgeable, and we thoroughly enjoyed his company and our conversations as we travelled across the Baltic States. Rihards also arranged an excellent guide for us on a day trip out into the Latvian countryside whilst we were staying in Riga: Maria took us on a fascinating tour of the castles at Sigulda, Turaida and Cesis. We would highly recommend Discover Latvia Tours. Rihards is very flexible in accommodating the interests of his clients and the tours are very competitively priced.

The four excursions with did with Discover Latvia were great. We choose the transfer/excursions from Vilnius to Riga and Riga to Tallinn and also the Kuldiga and Medieval Cesis Town and Sigulda trips from Riga. All four of them were intense and very well worth it. Both Rihards and Marija as tour guids were great and left nothing to be desired.

Rihards made this a really pleasant trip for us. He kept up a running commentary on places we saw as well as discussions about Latvia and Estonia. He was such an engaging person. We had a few sightseeing stops along our transfer from Riga to Tallin. My favourite was a boardwalk walk through the bogs. Such a different environment to experience. Very glad we decided to use This private transfer from door to door. Highly recommend.

Rihards was prompt, friendly, informative, and knowledgeable - and especially about Latvia. Easy to make arrangements and follow through. His English is excellent and it was great to hear personal stories about life since the Soviet occupation and current geopolitical issues. We were only two adults, but his car could certainly hold 6-8 and we are so glad we didn't attempt bus routes or trains on our own - (trains in the Baltics lag way behind the rest of Europe). We also saw much more of the countryside, stopping in pre-arranged spots or wherever we decided en route. Highly recommend!

"Private transfer from Riga to Tallin."

Reviewed November 9, 2018
Susan from Australia

We were transferred from our accommodation in Riga to our accommodation in Tallinn, by Rihards. He collected us right on time and transported us in a clean and comfortable car.

Rihards speaks excellent English and he gave us an explanation of the places we visited and the things that we saw along the way. There was also the opportunity to ask questions and it was more like chatting, than listening to a tour guide imparting information (which we really appreciated)! We now know lots more about both Latvia & Estonia than we did before.

We followed the coast and stopped at a couple of beaches - one sandy and one rocky. We wandered along the boardwalk through a bog. We stopped at the border crossing between Latvia and Estonia for a photo. And stopped in Pärnu for a wander around the Old Town.

It was a great way to transfer between the 2 cities - much better than just sitting on a big coach without the commentary!!

We’re keen to return to Latvia to discover areas beyond Riga, and we would certainly use Discover Latvia Tours again.
Thanks Rihards!!

We used Discover Latvia for a private transfer between Riga and Tallinn. It was all booked and organised before we left Australia (a very easy process). This was the best decision we made on our trip. Our driver, Rihards, was a very safe and conscientious driver. He was so knowledgeable about Latvia and Estonia. He took us to some great places of interest on our drive between the two capitals. He was a great person to spend 8 hours with. Thanks for a wonderful day! A perfect way to end a perfect stay in Latvia. I definitely recommend "Discover Latvia", the service was outstanding.

We spent 4 days each in Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius.

Instead of taking straight transfers from Tallinn to Riga and from Riga to Vilnius, we took 7.5 to 8 hour transfer tours between the cities. This included wonderful sightseeing along the way and time for lunch in beautiful and inexpensive restaurants.

We used Discover Latvia for both transfer tours. We upgraded from a car to a van because of our luggage and mostly because of our comfort.

The agreed upon itineraries were great and the places the driver/guide stopped for the two lunches were wonderful.

We also used Discover Latvia for a private tour from Riga to Sigulda and the surrounding area.

For everything, we were very satisfied with Discover Latvia. Nice vehicles, great tour guide, etc.

Discover Latvia's service was exactly what we needed for comfortable and enjoyable transfers from Tallinn to Riga and from Riga to Vilnius. Very good value at a reasonable price with Rihards as our driver. Both trips had well designed itineraries. The Tallinn to Riga trip included worthwhile stops at Parnu and at Turaida Castle. The Riga to Vilnius trip included stops at Rundale Palace and at the Hill of Crosses.

We would recommend Rihards and Discover Latvia without hesitation.
