"a very enjoyable experience"

I and my two sons went with Rihards from Discover Latvia on a day trip to Kuldiga. Rihards picked us up on time from our hotel in Riga. He was friendly and informative and answered all our questions concerning the places we visited and life in Latvia in general. It was a very enjoyable and interesting experience outside of Riga.

"Great Trips with both Rihards and Marija"

The four excursions with did with Discover Latvia were great. We choose the transfer/excursions from Vilnius to Riga and Riga to Tallinn and also the Kuldiga and Medieval Cesis Town and Sigulda trips from Riga. All four of them were intense and very well worth it. Both Rihards and Marija as tour guids were great and left nothing to be desired.

"Nice all day tour to Kuldiga"

Via E-mail an appointment was arranged quite easily for a tour that would last all day. This tour would eventually bring us to Kuldiga. We were picked up by Rihard at the agreed time. Rihard is an very accessible, quiet and what turned out pretty quickly, expert guide who speaks excellent English. He picked us up in a neat car and even thought about extra water because it would be 27 degrees that day. Via the "20 minutes in America" highway "to hunting castle" Jaummoku Pils then to a small vineyard! with a nice story after that to a lady of 72 years who every year makes straw dolls of about 1.60 high and shows them. Then via two-lane roads and a very wooded area to a waterfall and finally Kuldiga. I'm not going to describe all those places. See for yourself, we thought it was worth it in any case. A plus for us was that our guide could tell background stories and knew answers to our many questions. He also turned out to be a good driver. What more could you want!

"Excellent Day Trip with Discover Latvia!"

On the 14th September 2014, my wife, our 20 month old baby and I did a day trip from Riga with Rihards from Discover Latvia Tours. We traveled to Kandava, Kuldiga and then back along the Baltic coast and on to Riga.

What a great day we had! Rihards is passionate about his country and his job, and this definitely reflects in the quality of service that one receives as one of Discover Latvia's guests. Nothing was too much for Rihard - he provided us with a tailor-made day trip, is very informative about the history and socio-cultural context of Latvia, he provided us with drinks and Latvian sweets, he provided a baby chair for our baby, and in effect went out of his way to make the day special and memorable for us. It felt as if we were with a friend as opposed to a normal tour guide.

Based on our experience, if you are visiting Latvia, we would highly recommend that you do at least one day trip (or more if possible) with Rihards and his team at Discover Latvia!

Thank you Rihards for a most memorable day in beautiful Latvia! (Also for the lovely photos that you sent us of our day trip).
Best wishes,
Chris Fell (Irene, South Africa)

2 really awesome tours with Rihards. Not only was he very knowledgeable about the places, but was a great conversationalist too! Not a boring moment on the tour even whilst on the road driving. I particularly liked the extra touch of bringing along Latvian sweets for us to eat during the day. Absolutely recommend the Kuldiga tour and the hiking in Sigulda tour.

Please ask Rihards about the project to name cows across the world :)

For the second time visiting Latvia, staying for just 4 days we decided not only to stay in Riga, but also to go on tours to the lesser known parts of this country. On the 'Discover Latvia' website we found just what we were looking for, a daytour to Kuldiga and a daytour to Kurzeme and we decided to make a reservation. Everything was well arranged and both of the tours fulfilled more than our expectations! Both of the days Rihards picked us up at our hotel and he guided us very well. We had plenty of time to explore all the sights on the way and to take lots of pictures, fortunately Rihards likes photography too :-) and he's a nice guy to hang out with.

So for this nice weekend with lots of sightseeing, fun and a great deal of time relaxing in the nature we can only say thanks a lot, well done and when we come back to Latvia we sure will contact you again!

I booked three tours with Discover Latvia, a small, relatively new tour company in Riga. I was most impressed with Rihards, who was very knowledgeable and accommodating, and with his associate Yuris. The first tour was a walking tour with Maija, who took me to all the main attractions of old town Riga. The next day Rihards took me to Sigulda, and we were joined on the following day by Yuris for a tour of Kuldiga. My guides were excellent and the venues extremely interesting. Good value for money on these private tours. I highly recommend this company
